Windows 7 SP1 , Windows 8, Windows 8. Word processors that save. Apache OpenOffice versions 1, 2. Macintosh compatibility and system requirements What you need: Network compatibility and system requirements EndNote libraries can be accessed on a network — including networks with Macintosh and Windows workstations.
And my very, very simple question has attracted no replies - from which I conclude that scarily there may in fact be no reasonably up-to-date combination of OS X, Endnote, and Word known to the community that just works without problems - which is surely what paying customers have a right to expect. Had there been an answer, I suspect that some member of the community would have told me by now.
BTW Clarivate: I live just outside Philly, and it's 2 PM here, so not sure when you're going to hear. But I've been a long-time EndNote user since version 3 or 4 I think and previous beta tester, and I can't think of any version in the past that was as unusable as the current version. It's not just with Word and yeah, MS has some blame there probably. The EndNote app itself slows down massively and tech support has never provided any solution-they just attribute it to a PDF rendering issue with Apple.
But I'm an Appleseed tester as well, and that's never been seen outside of EndNote 8 to the best of my knowledge.
So I'm not clear what is going on. Were I not wedded to EndNote with a library compiled over many years that I don't want to mess up, I'd ditch it in a heartbeat.
They were very slow to respond to new versions of Office, macOS, etc, and after awhile that becomes something I'd rather not have to deal with anymore. In the old days, the folks at Thompson I dealt with as a beta tester were old fashioned and a bit stodgy I mean, if you didn't find a bug, you didn't get a free beta; that sort of nonsense. But at least the app worked well. Now, not so much. So my advice: Just my gut feeling.
Thanks dtoub. Things are looking bad to those of us who like you and me have a long-term commitment to Endnote. In parallel to this board, I have raised a case with technical support directly. Here is the lastest message I sent to them, sent about 90 minutes ago:. I am sorry to hear you are having these issues. I found the case you submitted to Technical Support.
As we state on our compatibility page, EndNote X8. We'll need to investigate why you are having the issues you are seeing. Here is the screengrab you asked for. As you can see, it shows signs of two previous attempts by me to follow advice on your website to make sure that the bundle was in place - the original bundle I found after my first use of Ennote 8. I am glad to see that you are standing by the compatibility statement made by your company in respect of OSX For the moment, I shall continue to cherish the hope that you can give me advice that will resolve this problem in a relatively straightforward way - though I still don't see why the customiser did not do the job right first time when it gave me a zero size bundle.
If you see any other files, remove them. Endnote Tools did indeed appear in the Tools menu, when I restarted Word, and the Endnote strip appeared. Now I have restarted Word, Endnote no longer appears in the Tools menu, and the Templates and Addins window appears as in the attached file. I therefore await further advice on how to get Word for Mac Meanwhile, one small point: In the process I seem to have deleted two files, which no longer appear in the Templates and Add-ins window:.
I have tried restarting my Mac in the hope that the two Cwyw items will reappear, but they don't.
